iPhone 17 Series Leak Reveals New Camera Design and Upgrades
The iPhone 17 series is still a few months away, but fresh leaks have already given us a first look at Apple’s next big launch. Images of dummy units for the full iPhone 17 lineup have surfaced online, revealing some major design changes coming this year.
Popular tipster Sonny Dickson shared photos showing the standard iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max, placed side-by-side in sleek black and white finishes. While the standard model keeps the familiar look of the iPhone 16, the Pro and Air models bring the biggest visual changes.
New Camera Layout for Pro and Air Models
The most striking change is the redesigned camera layout on the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max. Instead of the usual square camera bump, Apple appears to be switching to a horizontal camera bar. This sleek module stretches across the back of the phone, blending neatly with the body color for a cleaner, modern look.
Both Pro models still carry triple cameras, so users can expect top-tier photography features, but now with a fresh design that stands out from previous generations.
Meanwhile, the new iPhone 17 Air — which is set to replace the iPhone 16 Plus — features a slim, pill-shaped horizontal camera island with a single rear camera. The Air model also promises an ultra-thin body, rumored to be just 5.5mm thick, making it one of the slimmest iPhones ever.
Expected Upgrades Beyond Design
Apart from design changes, the iPhone 17 series is expected to bring some big hardware upgrades. For the first time, Apple could offer ProMotion 120Hz displays across all models, not just the Pro versions. The new LTPO OLED panels may also support always-on display features, although it’s still unclear if this will be available on the standard and Air models.
On the camera side, all iPhone 17 models are rumored to get a 24MP front camera with a six-element lens for better selfies and sharper video calls. The Pro Max might even feature a 48MP telephoto lens, a big leap from the current 12MP sensor.
Performance-wise, Apple is likely to introduce the new A19 chip across the lineup, built on an improved 3nm process. The Pro models could use a more powerful A19 Pro version for faster performance and better battery life.
Another interesting upgrade could be the introduction of Apple’s own 5G modem in the iPhone 17 Air, although it may lack mmWave support for now. Connectivity will also get a boost with Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3 expected across all models.
Lastly, Apple might add a tougher, anti-reflective coating on the screens to improve durability and make them easier to view under bright sunlight.
Launch Timeline
If Apple sticks to its usual schedule, the iPhone 17 series will likely be announced in September. Until then, more leaks and teasers are expected to surface as the excitement builds.
